Club Bylaws
Membership
The Quabbin Viewfinders Camera Club is a non-profit
organization open to anyone who wishes to share their interest in photography
and cameras with others. Individuals under the age of 18 must be accompanied by
a parent or guardian at meetings and club-organized events. Members are
responsible to provide for their own personal needs, accommodations and
transportation.
Purpose
The primary purpose of the Quabbin Viewfinders Camera Club
is to foster photography as an art, a hobby or a vocation, by instruction and
by the sharing of knowledge and experience.
Meetings
Regular meetings of the club shall be held on the second
Friday of each month, September through June, unless otherwise voted upon by
the club membership. Meetings shall start at 7 pm.
Donations
Donations are accepted. Donations can assist with club
supplies, events, technology and refreshments.
Officers
The officers of this club shall consist of a President,
Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. All of these officers shall be elected
by a majority vote of the club members on an annual basis.
President: shall preside at all regular meetings of the
club, administer the clubs affairs, approve all official club publications and
news releases and shall appoint committees as needed. The president or his/her
appointee will set the meeting agendas and will work with the Treasurer to
verify all donations made to the club and the clubs financial activity. To
qualify for this position, an individual must be an active member of the club
for the 14 months prior to the start of their term and have attained the
minimum age of 18.
Vice President: shall preside at meetings of the club in
the absence of the President or co-facilitate meetings with the President and
assist the President with the Clubs affairs. If for any reason the office of
the President becomes vacant, the Vice President shall become President until
such time as the next annual election. To qualify for this position, an
individual must be an active member of the club for the 14 months prior to the
start of their term and be a minimum of 18 years old.
Treasurer: shall maintain a record of all receipts and
disbursements and give a treasury report at each meeting. The clubs financial
record will be made available for club members examination at a club meeting
when requested by a club member three weeks in advance. Receipts are required
for reimbursement of authorized expenditures. All expenditures of the club must
be approved by at least two officers of the club. Members present at a club
meeting must approve expenditures in excess of $50 by a majority vote. To
qualify for this position, an individual must be an active member of the club
for the 14 months prior to the start of their term and be a minimum of 18 years
old.
Secretary: shall record all regular club meetings, maintain
a membership roster and make meeting minutes available to members on a monthly
basis. The Secretary shall be responsible for club correspondence as directed
by the President or Vice President and maintain a correspondence file for the
club.
Web Site:
The club shall maintain a web site available to all club
members. A web master will be appointed by the President to manage the site.
Agreement:
Club members agree to be respectful of each other and each
other s work. Members will support one another s photography efforts and share
experiences and best practices. All materials and photographs submitted to the
club via meetings, contests, websites or any other manner will be appropriate
for all ages. Failure to follow this agreement may result in the offending
parties removal from the club. North Quabbin Viewfinders Photography Club and
its officers are not responsible for club members or their guests personal
safety or personal property.
Changes:
Additions, deletions or amendments to the bylaws of the
Quabbin Viewfinders Camera Club may be made by a majority vote of at least 1/3
of the current members in good standing. The proposed change in the bylaws must
be presented to the membership at least one month in advance of bringing it to
vote.
